You are very naive to think telling the Philippine authorities about these scammers will help stop them. The truth is that they are not interested in helping foreigners, they only want more of your money coming into the country. Most of them are CORRUPT and it will never change. If you want a good woman trying looking in your own country. Only 1 in 10 filipinas are genuine.

I agree with David and nearly fell off my chair when I read his comments because it was almost identical to the way she played this with me. I want to warn people specificall y about one scenario that scammers ere using and catching people unaware. The photos are often of beautiful girls from model photos or magazines. The scammer scans the photo over their own documents, ie a pssport, and when that a copy is attached to an email and sent to you, it looks genuine. When I received a copy of the passport I saw that the passport photo looked very similar to the girl in the photos and appeared genuine. I attempted to specify to Western Union that they pay only on the production of the passport. I heard tha Western Union allow local ID in each given country and the sender can not specify the ID to be used. So be aware, the person you are talking to may well be a prostitute working another scam and not look like the beautiful girl in the picture. It may even be a man or a gay guy getting off on the romantic conversation. They way to confirm is to have the person go before a web cam to see if the girl you are talking to in real time is the same as the one in the picture. If anyone has had contact with Rona please give me an email as I want to communicate.

You want to get a cheap girl? They want only your bucks. No Filippines, American or Russian (who is the most beautiful girls in the world) want you boys. They only want your money. So first send the money then you'll get them.

Nursing student seems to be the major profession for wannabe scammers in the Philippines. Not quite sure why. And Dave, blast American Singles every chance you get. They need their brains rattled. I do it on a daily basis.

Comment from Mike

I know that. Don't know why I didn't get it right as I have corrected others on the spelling. I'll chalk that up to my right eye which has been dealing with some diabetic issues for the last week. No, not a cheap cry for sympathy.....just a cheap cry for understanding.

That's "Philippines" for the country.

It really pisses me off when I see a Filipino scammer. The Filipinos are such nice people. I just hope that one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch.

The scammers are counting on males being too embarrassed to report the theft. That's why they are able to come back time and again to scam someone else. Please do file a police report. Maybe you will save someone else some money.

Comment from Dave

Thanks for your suggestions Mike. Wow, everyone here is really helpful and a supportive group of people! Well, I researched what you are saying Mike, that I really should file a local police report, report to the FBI, report to Western Union, and a report with the Filipino Embassy. And, I should contact Yahoo and American Singles too. Like you, I wondered if it would really do any good. Plus, I’m really busy running my business and honestly, it’s kind of embarrassing to get hustled too. But, I did feel a civic duty to at least try to warn others. I wouldn’t want to this to happen to anyone else, that’s why I posted a profile here at least.

Comment from Dave

Thanks for the tough love Anon. I have finally figured out that American Singles and Match.com are a minefield of scammers. I don’t think I’ll be renewing my membership. After this incident, I’m doing more research to educate myself. I’ve been visiting scammer database sites, reading articles on scammer tactics, and reading independent reviews of dating sites like Jim’s List. I think the big sites like Match and American singles should warn people of scammer activity and they should provide links to sites for people to educate themselves. In my opinion, it would make good business sense for them to do so. They may want to get the money to post scammer profiles. But, in the end, I think as the problem grows, their reputation will suffer. They will suffer financially from honest people leaving their sites as the word gets out. Since I have paid Mach and AS and have a few more months to go on my membership, I plan to report any scammers I run across to the scammer database sites. Hopefully, it will save someone any heartache or financial loss. Or at least, wasting their time dealing with a know scammer.

Yahoo, not Yahpp. Bad eye day.

Comment from Mike

Dave - contact Yahpp. They may shut her account down so she can no longer access all the names she has on file. She will be forced to open a new account. Be wary of e-mail addresses that start with "babefor you" orother self inflating titles. Chances are it's a scam as no really serious person would be so flagrant. Report her to Western Union and the Phillipine and U.S. embassies. Perhaps the Filipino government will go after her or him, but don't hold your breath. And finally, check this site and others frequently for more tips on spotting a scammer. There's a pretty good group of people here......except for those Noo Yawk Yankees lovers! :)

Comment from Dave

Thanks Anon & Dameon for your kind words and constructive comments. I’m new to online dating and I was kind of naïve. I got got and learned and learned an expensive lesson. Never again will I send money to someone I don’t know. Now, my new policy is to see them on web cam too. What do you guys think? I don’t even want to waste my time corresponding with any scammers. Anyway, she even sent me fake photo’s she lifted from that website I mentioned of her as a small child. She must have sent me at least 50 pix in total of her at various ages. She also emailed me a really good copy of a forged passport as well. I didn’t know scammers could be so devious. There’s probably a special place in hell for them. I thought she was my friend. I told her even if there was no love connection I would like to help her because I thought nursing was an honorable profession and we need more nurses in the world. Also, it made me feel really good at the time to help some someone in a third world country since I’ve had such a blessed life in the U.S. My business is going really well and I just need to find that special someone. Anyway, I thought it would be an opportunity to give back. Plus, I felt guilty for not helping her when she claimed she was sick. I guess I just have a good heart.

It's really simple from the get-go... a) DO NOT DEAL WITH ANY FOREIGN WOMAN FROM AN AMERICAN SITE or any known bullshit sites - period. Educate yourselfs and go to jimslists.com. b) I don't give a shit WHAT their woeful story is - YOU DO NOT SEND MONEY, YOU DO NOT SEND MONEY, YOU DO NOT SEND MONEY. PERIOD. I know the regulars here know this very well, but I wish there was some way to educate the "newbies" that keep getting taking by these low-life criminals every single day. It makes me sick.

Comment from Dameon

As for the Philipines; beware of professional photos. That is a major clue with them. If they are not real-life pix, then the girls are not real-life!
