SO, I went to the blog post you linked to. And here is what I take to be the cruaicl point:"While it is unknown, so far, whether or not the members of "Pussy Riot" were contacted by any of these groups, or by the US State Department or its subsidiaries to carry out their hooliganism, it is clear that these groups and the US State Department itself has turned an otherwise tasteless disturbance of peace and a violation of Church-goers' rights to practice their faith without harassment, into a point of political leverage against Russia." I take this to be an admission by the author that there is no evidence whatsoever - no evidence, beyond the speculations of the post author - that the women involved have any relationship whatsoever with any of the nefarious groups or agencies he mentions. And I am granting only for the purposes of htis exchange that the groups and agencies he mentions are all nefarious in the ways he suggests. I do not know if they are. I will say, though, that notion that the folks at The Guardian are engaged in some sort of concerted propaganda campaign strikes me a preposterous. In other words, this post seems at best to be a set of unsubstantiated conspiratorial musings.

Ginteras: Minor correction? I think you mean it shloud have been treated as a simple administrative violation case (fine up to 1500 rubles or up to 15 days in jail). In which event, it would have been dealt with and over quietly and quickly, in my opinion.I have read a report that a woman (in Novosibirsk, if I remember correctly) has indeed filed a civil suit against Pussy Riot claiming compensation for moral injury. Her comment to the press that she believes other people shloudn't be allowed to disturb her mood resulted in many reactions. I quote from Viktor Shendorovich's reaction entitled "Greetings from Sartre": "Acts of others are constantly reflected in our mood, moreover, in the worse side as a rule. These repulsive others breathe our air around the clock, occupy our place in the metro, at the table, in bed, on the honors list... Sometimes, somewhat to no effect they, instead of us, receive heavenly gifts ("O Mozart, Mozart!")."So I suspect that a civil case, while not resulting in as much furor as the current felony trial, would not necessarily have been dealt with quietly and quickly.

Surname: Nadezhda Name: Writes as Lili (Passport name: Anuchina Nadezhda, Yahoo Personals Name: goodgirlforonlyyou) City: Tolyatti (Town they allege to come from is Primorsky nr. Tolyatti) Country: Russia Postal address: Wouldn't Give It Phone number: Not Known Photos they sent: I have 9 photo's Emails sent: PDF transcript available on request (very big!! LoL) Contact details: They contacted me through Yahoo Personals Scam Reported to: Western Union, Yahoo and UK Police informed Scam Detail: This person is very very convincing, they wrote very personal/sincere emails with no talk of a sexual nature. They mention early on that ALL family members are dead (mother & father together and younger brother later in a separate incident), which made me suspicious and I was wondering when they would ask for money. Periodically sends some natural looking pictures (non sexual) and eventually says that they want to visit you. Says that they have successfully obtained a visa and then (later) that they have gone to get a plane ticket but are short of money having sold belongings with the help of a friend called Anna. Also they say that the company they work for owes them money. They say that they are ashamed to ask etc. and it seems sincere. They ask for money in Euros (190 Euros in my case) to be transfered by Western Union and give a bank address in Tolyatti (Vneshtorgbank, Novyi Proezd 8, Tolyatti, Tel: (7 ) (848) 706521). The flight details given for Moscow to London (LHR) checked out (dates & times - flight No: SU247) and with a certain amount of uncertainty, I was convinced enough to risk giving them $235 (190 Euros) for the ticket. Then an email arrives a few days later saying that they have arrived in Moscow and been told that they need additional papers. Of course a request then comes unashamedly for approx. $500. At this point I was conviced that they had no intention of visiting and refused to risk an even larger sum of money. When I told them where to go, they stopped sending emails.
