I met this lady in Gomel. The name she gave me for my visa was Galina Kovalchuk.
I arrived at Minsk airport and she met me there having taken a taxi from Gomel. I had to pay the driver $500 USD for the journey.
I needed to withdraw cash so Galina suggested we go inside rather than use the cash machine. As I couldn't speak russian, Galina did all the talking and interpreted the bank tellers instructions to hand over my credit and debit cards. After making several transactions, Galina said that they could only give me small amounts at a time and that the total was about $70 USD but we could try another bank. This happened at three banks and each time Galina told me they had given her small amounts which she said would total enough for her to hire the car for a week which we wanted. When I returned to England and obtained statements, I found the credit card had been to withdraw cash to its limit and my debit card account had an unauthorised overdraft on it.
I saw a lot of notes go over the counter at the bank but with Belarusian rubels you can have a thick wad and it's only small change. Throughout, Galina told me she was only given small amounts in each transaction.
