Contacted me using the user name Daisy Wheel on true.com we started writing in April 06 Using the name Nadezhda Lekomtsewa nad@mypriem.com, claimed she was a gynecologist for the Ministry of Health in a small village of Petrovka near Taganrog, after writing me for months she pulled the scam; she has 3 weeks of vacation and has gotten her visa (sent a photo of it), she wants to pay her way because I'm suspicious, but it cost her a lot of money to get her visa and someone broke all the windows out of her place, so she and her friend Elana have pawned all their jewelry and still needs $230 and must have it in 3 days or she will lose the money she put down on the ticket. Took two days to get to Moscow from Taganrog. When she got to Moscow she said she needed $500 because they would not let her leave with out having enough money to support herself and would give it all back to me when she got here. After I sent her the money she told me she was in an accident and would be in the hospital for two week and then would come. Sent another message a couple days later to please keep writing she needed me to keep her spirits up. Haven't heard from her since, that was 13 July 06. Told me she turned 30 July 15th. Nadezhda sent me many pictures, one of her holding a sign that says I miss you Scott and something in Russian that she told me says tender kisses, when she claimed she had not heard from me in two weeks. From that I think she is a real person. Extremely convincing liar..
I have several of the same photos, Elana in the first one Claimed they work togeather as doctors at the clinic in Petrovka
Also sent me a photo of Nadezhda with Irina, have not found her on the site yet.

Dameon!, i agree on many points you have said, but coming from the UK we see the picture differently. As for yelstin..hmm what can i say about that gangster..he's simply no good. Over here in the UK we constantly getting news reports and many documentries about Russia which show a grim outlook. Yoy are right about Russians are proud people and what do say for the minority who are doing these bad things?....There's something you mention regarding local gangs or Russian mafia, a lot gangs back Russians are ex KGB and ex military.

PK, I am sorry, but I do not buy into that. First of all, it was Yeltsin who decided what type of aid he would accept from the West. And since then, Putin is trying his hardest to put pressure on the old Soviet satelite countries, and in doing so, recreate the old U.S.S.R. Living in NYC, I have gotten to know many Russians and Eastern Europeans. Whether they have come here legally or otherwise, they are proud people, especially the women. What we are not seeing here is the fact that these scams are being run by groups of people. I cannot say whether they are local gangs or Russian Mafia or a bunch of ditzy chicks. The girls who are real are prompted what to do and say; but I think most of the scammers are men with stolen pix. The fact is that running a scam takes 3 minutes a day out of there life with practically zero repercussions if caught. So, its a no-lose situation for them except their soul, and that's only if they believe in a higher power. And the truth is that internet dating scams originated in the USA. So just like here, the old saying goes: An easy buck is better than a hard days pay. I cannot believe I just wrote this long diatribe. I think I need a drink. Later. :-)

I'm afraid that is the problem with the new Russia after communism fell apart in the late 80's early 90's. Young women of today has to resort to such methods to get money.
Also it has shown to us that their system has broken down. It's right what these women are doing, but what do you if are living in a country that everyone depended on the system to help them out . I can remember when the Berlin wall came down and all i read and saw was western companies rushing east for cheap labour. I believe now that we in the west are now paying for these scam actitives because we in the west should have been there for them in times of crises like this.
If we were there from the beginning i don't think young women would be carrying out fraud on a grand scale. I personally have come to this conclusion that the people of Russia are blaming us for they depressing woes.
A Russian friend told me last year that the people's views has changed alot regarding survival. What she said in directly was " if have a chance to grab it, just grab it" so to speak.
