Dearest Russian Lady - although I do understand your point of view, I think you must understand something. Most typical scammers will not go after a man in his 20's or 30's. They tend to go after middle-aged men who are at that point in life where they see their own mortality and it's deficience's that exist within this. Some of these men see this chance of a new life with a beautiful young woman and lose their minds. They see this as their last chance for love and happiness. They lose reality and fall in a make believe world. Those unlucky few who completely fall for the scam may well give up their life savings. When they realize the truth, they see that not only have they lost money or suffered a broken heart, they have taken a hit to the mighty male bastion called the "Male EGO". And a major hit to this and the embarrassment that follows is sometimes to much to handle and instead of dealing with their own inner-shame, they try to end themselves. It is the easy way out for them. This is sad but true. 99.5% of men do not go to this extreme, but there is that handful that do. I am quite impressed with your opinions and comments here. YOur input is appreciated my most; I am sure.

Also, read this article. It’s the best article I have come across on how to easily detect Russian scam artist, especially using email header information, so you don’t waste your time even chatting with them. re: IP adresses. If you use outlook express you need to right click the senders address and go to properties. When you get the IP # try going to "ipchicken" Your Ip # will come up and you can do more advanced searches and stuff and things.

Susbloke - If you have Yahoo mail, when you open an e-mail, down at the lower right side of the page is a place you can click that says "full headers." This will show the originating IP address and all sorts of other info that I have no idea of what to do with. I don't know how you get the IP address from hotmail, AOL or other providers. But I am sure there are some smart cookies on this site who know.

Maybe this is a common scam in Vilnius? I met a girl there through a singles site in 05. I went there for a week in March. She met me at the airport, she arranged for a flat in the center of town which was quite nice. Sometimes she came around with a friend, sometimes she did not. She never did spend as much time with me as she promised that she would. Her mother was sick, she had classes, etc. But, she was warm and loving. We did some shopping, but not much. But - she did get me to pop for a new cell phone. She did need it, the one she had was old - and the new one had a digital camera in it and she promised to send photos often when I was back in the states. And - she was very, very beautiful. Now -to the strange part. The day before I was to leave we spent the afternoon together, just the two of us. When we kissed and said goodbye, she promised me that she would be back later later that evening, I had proved that I was serious and now it was time for us to be together. I never saw her again. She did not answer her phone, I called again and again and again and finally I called as I was waiting for my flight out. No answer. So my last 36 hours in Vilnius I was on my own. When I got back to the states - she answered my email and we talked on the phone. She was very apologetic, but she had not good reason why she could not have answered her phone at least once. So I did a Google search "escort Vilnius" and found her postings on three call girl sites. I also found two of her friends that I had met! So I made up a dummy identity email in Yahoo and sent a message to her escort email - US business man, visiting Vilnius in two weeks - could she be with me for 2 or 3 days? She answered promptly, with daily fee, some comments about enjoying sex but doing everything safely - and she gave me her cell phone number. Of course, it was the same number that I had been calling. So my girlfriend was also a call girl on the side. So that was why she dissapeared for 36 hours - she most likely had a paying customer show up. When I confronted her, she was very pissed and she asked me how else she could make 5000 Euro a month? So much for not having the cash for a new mobile! But other than the phone, I did not spend any great amount on anything else. The apartment was priced in the same range as others I found on the net. We did rent a car to go to Trakai - but it was not a large amount and the castle is one of the must see places in Lithuania. So, was it a scam? Or was it a call girl looking for real love? She never contacted me again - her escort postings remain on some sites, as do her friends.
