Anon - could you please clarify how to do this? If you have Yahoo e-mail, all you need do is go to the bottom of any particular e-mail and click "full headers." That will give you the IP address and all kinds of juicy information....a real treasuretrove to all you computer geeks out there. :)

Comment from Dameon

I swear - one day I am going to understand what this bat thing means and how to look for it.

Hey guys, an easy way to check to see if they are a scammer is to check the messeage header. I use outlook. So i rick click on options which gives IP address etc. Look for X-Mailer: The Bat! It's mass marketing software out of eastern europe. It cost like $30.00 USD so is very affordable. It's designed for companies to customize, taylor, and manage emailing in a large volume. If you see this in the email properties. You know it's a scam. What girl needs mass marketing software? lol

Comment from Mike

I have one rule to go by....if she contacts me through personals and is from Russia, it's a scam until proven otherwise. So far, every one of the dozens who have contacted me have been scammers. However, if I contact them through one of the more trustworthy sites, such as Free Russian Singles, a friendship develops.

You are probably right. I just looked at my report of Victoria #1632. S/he wrote very nice letters. The letter posted starts out with chat about being together during 'her' birthday. But per your comments maybe this scammer's personal approach is to have a birthday in the near future and to discuss how wonderful it would be to be together then. Other than to change the actual date - the letter is the same to all marks. So even though the letter looked genuine, it really was not. And per your comments, the answer to my question about condoms was inserted into the end of the letter - which made me expect to see the letter from the agency next. The scammer 'Jasmin' was even more subtle, as she got me over into Yahoo chat very quickly which allowed her to later try the she said / he said defense.

Comment from freddyboy

I think this is where we start to notice that this girl of our dreams is not answering specific questions, as we have heard so often, perhaps as a PS at the bottom of the letter. I think that each given mark is given a number corresponding to the last letter written. Know what I mean..he/she will have James at #2 and Wombat at #5 and Dameon at #8 so that way they will know what letter and photos to send in the next correspondence. Simple click on the name of the 'victim', check on the next number up in his sequence and click send. Should be able to get a 100 or so run through a day like this without much time or effort spent.

Comment from James

Yes, but I was thinking more from an organizational viewpoint. The scammer must be working numerous possible marks at any given time, so keeping the letters in proper sequence to each mark would require some effort. And after several emails to a given mark, the cut / paste letters from the library would need to start to be altered to match the scammer's perception of how to reel in each individual mark.

Comment from Freddyboy Canada

Probably not so much effort as one may think James. Just pick out the next letter in the line up change to the appropriate name and there you go. Pick out the picture you would like to use..pick out the set of emails you would like to use and get busy. Should be able to get quite a few out everyday..one might even take the bait and hey I just made a couple of months wages. It is starting to fall into a recognizable pattern.

Comment from James

This scammer certainly committed a lot of time and effort to achieve Zero return. Is the scammer being dumb or does it point to a possible effective strategy - that being to try to convince the mark over a period of time that there really is a relationship, then spring the money trap?
