hmmmmmm first welcome back simon. Your words ring true. I do know a little spoken Ukrainian. Enough to be polite and to get the things I need at the store...but surely not enough to explain to someone about my feelings and to make plans for our future together. Once I return to Canada I have never ever used any of the Ukrainian that I have taken the time to learn. Of course I also have had to use a translator, but I find it very difficult to expain my feelings through the aid of a translator. The girls wish for a new life in our western world..and of course they must learn english upon arrival..and of course by total immersion. I simply question the fact do they truely understand what they are being asked to do. If they completely understand the situation before there is no turning back for them. If they knew the language before any deep decisions were made..I think [know] it would be a happier situation for everyone. No hidden agendas..no surprises..everyone on the same page. I am also finding more and more girls will not converse with me because we do not understand each others languages well enough. They want to converse through chat lines, telephone or personal email. They do NOT want to correspond through translated letters. I appreciate this attitude and the girls honesty. I teach spoken english on-line..many people in this big world of ours want to learn english..I am happy to help them.

Freddie boy, not exactly true. I know a few cases personally where the can speak very little conversational english but can't write it. Russian is 180 degrees of English Many of the words like computer are phonectically the same but the alphabet is totally different. We in Florida have many immigrants who came here to American and spoke no English and they learn. Caled total immersion. My Question is simple you put all of the onis on them but have you taken the time to learn conversational Russian? You are going to a foriegn country and sying you want one of their ladies but they have to speak English. If you go to Russia and I have many times I hire a translator for business and I have a driver who translates for me at other times. And if I am dating a Russian lady we struggle but with patience it all works out. Just a thought.

DO NOT communicate with ANY girl who does not understand and speak at least some english. These translation scams are just the beginning of your troubles. If the girls are serious about finding a new partner abroad..and most are looking toward us men in the western world..then they will have made an attempt to learn conversational english. If no effort to learn english has been made...I gaurantee you..they have no intentions of leaving their home country. A very simple but effective step to take when looking for a bride/partner from the FSU. There should be no need for translation services except as perhaps an introduction.
