I talked to a Russian gal in a Circuit City who was at the end of her summer work visa. I believe that any visa like this would have a time limit, and if the visa is not stamped "exit" then it has been overstayed. And you are right, we may be chasing a phantom here. But the doc did not say medical did he? I have known some PhD candidates that acted like they were semi-literate.

How about a mouse in the corner James? Where is there any proof positive, that she overstayed a Visa? Even if she did, I do not see any rallies from Russians, waving their flag in our face, and demanding their rights. Also, for being a Doctor, the original complaintant lacks a serious knowledge of English. What is the real truth in this?

If she did over stay her visa, and she is moonlighting as a call girl, I would love to be a fly on the wall when if / when she ever is interviewed by INS to listen in as she trys to dodge and dance around her hooking.

Right on James. I live in Brainerd, Minnesota. There are three big resorts in this area, that hire foreign Nationals for the tourist season. A lot of them are from Russia. They work about five months, and have another month to travel the USA. They make about two years wages (Russian) in those months. Works for them, works for the resorts. I do want to emphasize one thing again. THERE ARE many honest women in Russia, and the few scammers give them a bad name. Name of the game here is to watch for the scams and not belittle 99% of the honest ones.

Rather than a student visa, this may be a summer work visa. Such visas are possible - the resorts along the coast of New England here where I live do this. Also last year I was chatting with a girl in Ekaterinburg who had done this once and then last summer she went to Cleveland to work as a chambermaid. She had promised to contact me once she was in the US but she never did. So, if this girl later turned up in DC as a waitress, we now have 12,000,001 illegals here. Oh, excuse me, 'undocumented workers'. Waitressing would be a good cover for an girl working for an escort service too.

I agree with you Hercules - this story seems a bit weird.

Well, were you scammed for airfare? At least she got to the USA. Guess I would not have minded to buy her new clothes, to get the old ones off. Are you telling the whole story here? A student VISA, is not indicitive of a scam. Seems she could do anything she wanted once here. Also, with a 29 year age gap, what did you expect, a 'barbie doll' with no brains?

Dr. Nathaniel - Your comment on young Russian women coming to America and becoming prostitutes is way off base. Some do, just like women from all countries, when they fall into the wrong crowd.
