# Scam scenarios:   ask for money

# Details: Very responsive to letters. A piano teacher claiming to come to the USA near your area through an international nanny agency. Asks to meet her at the airport. rnrnTalked to her twice on the phone. In her letters she takes you through the process of getting ready to move the USA: Packing her belongings and selling her piano. rnrnWhile in route to stay at her grandmothers house, 3 weeks before flying out, she gets into a fender bender with a BMW. Needs 800 USD. Promises to pay back when she arrives after getting the cash for her piano. If she cant raise the money, she claims she wont be able to fly out for another 6 months.rnrnI asked her to FAX the estimate from the alleged auto repair shop to my home FAX machine. A friend of mine speaks Russian, so I could have anything translated. Then I asked for the nanny agencys contact info here to speak on her behalf. Havent heard from her since.rn rnThe (3) biggest clues that tipped me off were: rnFrom initial contact to her witting back again took her 3 weeks. About the same amount of time it takes for the scam to unveil. In other words, she was likely working on another scam before directing any further attention towards me. rnrnAlthough she took the time to answer most of my questions, she didnt ask much about me. But wrote about herself. I was becoming convinced that she was for real until the punch line because she did not swoon or get overly romantic, but sounded very practical about coming here as a nanny. The scam did not hit until the last paragraph of the last letter.
