# Scam scenarios:   ask for money

# Details: After several weeks of e-mails she asked me for money to pay her Internet bill ($250). I said I could not send money to a picture and needed proof and asked her to send me a picture of herself holding a local newspaper or get to an Internet cafe on a web cam. She sent me a picture of the same girl holding a book. She said she was the real girl and could scan a newspaper but I said no. She then said she had to go to the Internet cafe to mail me. I compared IP addresses and the two were different in the same location but I knew it was a scam and played along. Several e-mails later she wants to come to me and asked me for money for airline tickets etc. In one of her early e-mails she said she was born in California, so I asked for a copy of her birth certificate. She made up some story about her uncle having it and then gave me an address in LA where she said she lived. I ran this through Google and it is a famous bar/hotel and a famous hangout for Hollywood celebrities. I called her a liar and a scammer and never heard from her or him or them again.

Request for money was through Western Union. I never sent any because I knew it was a scam from the beginning.
