Hey Scott...thanks for stopping by the blog, and for atdetning the presentation. When I first started teaching at a Korean uni, I would never have dreamed that my system would actually work. But, I just got so tired of students streaming in late, without book or pencil, or nametag, and then sleeping, talking on their cell-phone or doing other homework in class that I was willing to try anything. Even if it seemed ridiculous!

Jackie, Good job on the presentation last week. I was the guy who cmteenomd about the method being slightly immature for college aged students, but after coming back to work on Monday and seeing all of the students without books and paper, I was suddenly reminded of your ideas and the reality of our teaching context. Thus, I'm seriously thinking about implementing your method into my mixed-level/mixed motivation freshman course next semester. I'm hoping it will encourage the learner responsibility that we always hope for, but often fail to see. Don't worry about the obnoxious dude who responded to your presentation. He definitely could have stated his methods in a different manner, and the boasting about his uni and the adoration of his students did little to help his case.

1. Hmm, badass may be a srectth, but it is ultimately listenable in a non-confrontational kind of way. In the interest of full disclosure, I stopped listening before it was done out of boredom.2. This one I like more. It's got the tongue-in-cheekiness that I adore. But still a bit too non-confrontational. I listened to the end. Bonus points for surprising but appropriate f-bomb usage. 3. I saw the picture of the cutie in the dreads and thought immediately of cruncy granola but instead it's a bit clubby. It's Eddie Grant + Missing Persons Lady Gaga. I listened to the end.4. Moody. When I saw that they played in a warehouse, I expected something less polished and more punky. When I saw the name, though, this is exactly what I expected. Not for me though as the guitars opened up there toward the end I got a little twinkle 5. This is more like it! Now if that new music would just live up to the standards set by the old *sigh* Marib4s last blog ..
