Comment from David Brown, Canada

I met Alenochka Romanuk in June 2000. Wrote to her for three months previous to trip. I had sent $100 to Victoria Tours, run by Ludmilla Cherapuschik, to cover letter translations. We spent a week together and I met her good friend Alena, who is her cousin. I wanted to meet Alenochka's family, but she declined, saying it was too soon. She did show me many photos of her family and we spent many hours together getting to know one another. Her father is a merchant marine and she has a little brother. She was married once before. In 2000, she was divorced and working for a photography shop. I saw many, many photos of her in this shop. She was very open with me and never asked me for money. Victoria Tours pressed me to take some excursions and I did take a few. Mainly Alenochka and I enjoyed our time together. She confessed she was hoping to meet a very wealthy man and eventually live in New York City. I imformed her wealthy and very successful men will never travel to meet women. They have no problems meeting women because they are successful. This seemed to deflate her hopes a little. I consider myself a decent, hard working man with a steady middle income. I told Alenochjka I could give her a good life and we could be very happy. Unfortunately, she has (had) this dream of living the lifestyles of the rich and famous. It is too bad, she has this false impression of North America. I hope one day she will find happiness. I would not clssify her as a scammer. More of a dreamer. She was my friend, but did not open her heart to me. I have many sweet memories with Alenochka Romanuk. I hope she thinks of me from time to time. I gave her an original oil painting that I made just for her. This seemed to almost stun her and her eyes watered with happiness. Her warmth and smile are genuine. I believe she will regret not listening to her heart. Money cannot buy happiness. Good luck my friend. Shyasliva devushka. Be happy. Your Canadian friend. David. Miss your smile :-)
